Ocala's hometown kickoff to the holidays: the Light Up Ocala festival flips the switch on thousands of lights across the historic downtown square and surrounding blocks, with a giant Christmas tree, live performances and more than 100 vendors. The lit square then serves as downtown's free holiday stroll through the season, capped by the 60-plus-year-old Ocala Christmas Parade along Silver Springs Boulevard in mid-December.
