Castle Rock's holiday season runs from the lighting of the Star atop the Rock (a tradition since 1936, with the Starlighting festival organized by the Chamber since 1962) until the star goes dark at the end of the National Western Stock Show. Downtown is decked in hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, with the Starlighting festival (Nov 21, 2026, 2-6 p.m.; star lit about 5:30 p.m. followed by fireworks), the Festival Park Starlight Market, Reindeer Games at Philip S. Miller Park, free trolley rides and carriage rides.
