Carson City's long-running tree-lighting festival on the Nevada State Capitol grounds, about 30 minutes south of Reno. The state grounds crew wraps the Capitol plaza in lights; the kickoff evening brings the tree lighting, free sleigh rides, caroling, Santa and hot chocolate, and the illuminated grounds stay lit as a free stroll through the holidays.
