Baltimore's unofficial start of the holiday season: the 178-foot Washington Monument in Mount Vernon Place is lit with roughly 28 strands and about 12,800 bulbs at a free evening celebration featuring live music, caroling, vendors and a closing fireworks display. The monument then stays illuminated through the holidays. A city tradition for more than five decades (54th annual in 2025).
